Q: Hi, I am not sure exactly who I need to speak with but I have to start somewhere so….My boyfriend and have 3 daughters and we are currently renting a house in Gadsden, Alabama for $700 a month and we really cannot afford that any more so we were thinking of trying to buy a house. We are very interested in the Hokes Bluff school district but he works in Moody, Alabama. So we are looking at the very edge of the school district are as close to Moody as possible. We would like a 3 bed and 1 or 2 bath. I don’t mind giving a house a little TLC but it has to be ready to move in…no floors falling through and good electical and such. We would prefer not to have more than a $500 house payment and are willing to have a 30 year loan. Do you have advice or are you capable of pointing me in the right direction of being able to find what I want?
–Anonymous, Gadsden, AL
A: First and foremost thing to do is to contact a lender and see if and what you qualify for. Once you find out if you qualify then the next step is to contact a good buyers agent you your local community.
Best wishes.
