“Yellowstone” star Barret Swatek and her husband, Adam Weiss, are preparing to auction off their extravagant $65 million Hawaii mansion, less than four years after purchasing the beachfront estate, so they can make a hasty move back to her home state of Alabama.
Swatek, 47, and Weiss—a retired hedge-fund manager—splashed out more than $45 million in 2021 for the eight-bedroom property, which sits on Maui’s west coast.
The couple then poured millions of dollars into renovating the waterside oasis, adding an array of art and unique furniture pieces to the property, before moving there full time in 2022 after selling their Malibu home for $70.4 million.
However, according to the Wall Street Journal, the lovebirds are now ready to give up their beach lifestyle once and for all in favor of settling down in Alabama with their baby daughter, Dixon, who was born in 2024.
Speaking to the WSJ, the couple explained that they made the decision to ditch their Hawaiian hideaway shortly after welcoming their first child together, when they realized that they wanted to be closer to Swatek’s family and Weiss’ two daughters from a previous marriage.

“We just feel like we’re too far from them and from Barret’s family, and I think the baby kind of changed the equation on that,” Weiss, the co-founder of Scout Capital Management, told the outlet.
Having made the decision to move, Swatek and Weiss are eager to waste no time in starting their new life in Alabama—opting to forgo a more traditional listing process in a bid to offload the home within a set amount of time, rather than risk allowing it to languish on the market for what could be many months, or even years.
In choosing to auction the home, the couple can be confident in the knowledge that the sale will be wrapped up by April 22, with bidders given 12 days from April 10 to put in their offers.
Per the WSJ, the couple did quietly seek interest in the property in late 2024, with an asking price of $65 million—however, Weiss revealed that starting bids for the home are expected to come in at anywhere from $17.5 million to $35 million.
Of course, there is a risk in choosing this route, particularly given that the home does not have a reserve price, meaning that it will ultimately sell to the highest bidder, no matter what amount they are offering.
However, for Swatek and Weiss, it seems speed was a higher priority than potential profit, with the latter telling the WSJ that they feel as though “there is no time to waste,” because their daughter is growing so quickly, and they want to settle into their new life as soon as possible.
The couple told that outlet that they “thought long and hard” about the auction route, and noted, “We feel good about the decision we’ve made at this point.”

Weiss added that they “have a good opportunity to make sure that we’re not selling it for a stupid price.”
The property sprawls across 21,700 square feet and is located on Keawakapu Beach, which is next to the South Mai neighborhood of Wailea.
It was designed in 2002 by architect Ricardo Legorreta and boasts geometric designs, bright tones, and an electric atmosphere.
There is also a resort-style pool, a wine room, a gym, a yoga studio, an office, a game room, and multiple terraces.
After purchasing the property, the actress and her spouse added a bar off the kitchen and converted the media room into a library.
In the primary suite, they transformed the office into a dressing room.
Despite their eagerness to leave Hawaii, both Swatek and Weiss were quick to point out to the WSJ that they have loved their life on the beach, with the “American Housewife” star revealing how she and her daughter would whale-watch together at the back of the property.

Meanwhile, Weiss called attention to the home’s breathtaking views, pointing out how the vista is in a constant state of evolution as the sun moves across the sky.
However, Swatek explained that she still wants to raise her daughter in the same way that she was raised—on a farm outside Birmingham, where her parents live to this day.
The couple plans to build a separate residence for their own family on the property.
“I’ve really cherished how I grew up. When I came back from school, my brothers and I would hop on a horse bareback and ride for the afternoon,” Swatek said.
Their move to Alabama will mark the second time the couple has suddenly upped sticks to a new location since 2021—having sold off their Malibu home back in 2022 for $70.4 million in order to pursue a new life on the beach.
At the time, Swatek gushed about the many memories the couple had made in the home—which was previously owned by supermodel Cindy Crawford—but noted that they wanted to settle down full time in their Hawaii abode, having purchased it the year before.
“We have a lot of love and fond memories here. This is where we had our first date, got engaged and married. We made countless precious memories with family and friends on this property,” she said in a statement. “It’s a magical place with privacy, water, mountains, very private beach and sometimes a running river.”
